People often ask me how I am able to connect with nature in Dubai since it is a city that has sprung out of the desert…we have the sea!
I love connecting with nature and going out on a boat on the ocean is both very calming and allows me to reflect within.
One of my key takeaways from my recent Vipasana was that most of the answers lie within…I just cannot access them due to all the clutter in my life. But given enough time through aloneness, I am able to dig deeper and deeper to get to the core.
In a recent example, without going into the story, I knew what outcome I was looking for in a relationship, however, the approach did not match my core of non-violence as people would have been badly hurt in the process. Instead, through reflection, I came up with another path that got me to the same destination, but with minimal hurt (any difficult conversation will have some negative emotions around it). In a nutshell, I have made a commitment to myself that I shall only make major decisions if I have given myself enough clutter-free alone time in nature (example go out into the sea without any way of connecting) to ensure I choose the best path to get to my desired destination.
Do you reflect before making any major decisions? Do you set time each day to reflect?
